The controls are extremely easy to use. There are five manually controlled assist settings. But on of the most exciting features is an intelligent Auto mode for the electric assist; this mode automatically adjusts the assist level to match the conditions.  This takes all the guess work out and allows you to truly ride it like a regular bike.  It is the mode I prefer when I'm riding and what I would definitely suggest our guests start out with.
